Distinguished Military Service

Councilman Dr. Benjamin (Benny) M. White is a retired Lieutenant Colonel who honorably served 22 years in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Officer. Throughout his military career, he led and mentored soldiers, demonstrating strong leadership and dedication to service. He retired from active duty in 2008.

Dedicated to Naperville's Future

Commitment to Education & Leadership

Benny has held influential teaching and leadership roles, including:

  • Assistant Professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point

  • Professor of Military Science at Wheaton College

  • Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program at Joliet West High School where he continues to shape future leaders

  • Serving as a mentor and volunteer in Naperville and surrounding communities

Family & Community Roots

Benny and his wife, Kim, have called Naperville home since 2005. They are proud parents of two adult children and remain deeply connected to the Naperville community.

A former college football player and passionate sports fan, Benny enjoys cheering on his alma mater, West Point, and his hometown team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Public Service & Community Leadership

Councilman White has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to local governance and community service:

  • Naperville City Council – Elected in 2017, re-elected in 2021

  • Naperville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners (2015-2017)

  • Indian Prairie School District 204 Board of Education (2012-2017), Board Secretary

 

Beyond his elected roles, Benny is actively involved in several local boards and committees, including:

  • Naperville Downtown Advisory Committee

  • Naperville Development Partnership

  • Naperville Community Television (NCTV-17)

  • Loaves & Fishes Community Services

  • Naperville Neighbors United, Founder (fostering community unity and inclusion)
